Hinotori™ was developed as a robotic assisted surgery system to reproduce surgeon’s precise hand movement movement, which is essential for surgeries. Hinotori™ aims to serve and assists surgeons, not to replace them. Hinotori™ is made with the expertise from Kawasaki Heavy Industry’s robot technology which has been cultivated for over 50 years and in collaboration with Sysmex Corporation’s network and knowledge in the healthcare field.
Progress of Hinotori™
The Hinotori™ Surgical Robot System received its initial regulatory clearance from Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) in 2020, the same year it entered clinical use.
Since then, the system has gained approval in several other countries, including Singapore in September 2023 and Malaysia in August 2024, paving the way for its introduction into major medical centers throughout the region. In November 2024, Singapore General Hospital performed the first procedure outside Japan—a robot-assisted radical prostatectomy—using the hinotori™ platform.
