Dr. Shailendra Goel is a professor at Department of Botany, University of Delhi. He did his PhD from the same department and his first postdoc from University of Georgia, USA and his second postdoc from IRD, France. He is a crop geneticist who uses a combination of genetic and genomic tools with an aim to decipher and improve agronomically important traits in various crops. He has developed programs on diverse crops like Pearl Millet, legume (Black Gram) and an orphan indigenous oil seed crop of India (safflower), to decipher an important trait & boost research on lesser-known crops which are healthy nutritive alternate to popular crops (wheat, rice and maize) in order to acclimatise to local environments as local traditional crops.
