Lecture Abstract
This session will examine the incidence, clinical significance, and diagnostic evaluation of iron deficiency anaemia and thrombocytopaenia in paediatric patients. The use of expanded CBC parameters, reticulocyte haemoglobin (RET-He) and immature platelet fraction (IPF) will be discussed as additional tools to manage these challenging conditions. Case study examples will be reviewed to illustrate the clinical benefits of these parameters.
Objectives
• Discuss the use of expanded CBC parameters in patients with thrombocytopaenia
• Understand the role of expanded CBC parameters in the evaluation of anaemia
