Dr Kandace Gollomp is an attending Oncologist/Haematologist in the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the United States. She received her BA from Yale University and her MD from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. Following the completion of her Residency in General Paediatrics, Dr Gollomp undertook her Fellowship in the field of Paediatric Haematology/Oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a current member of the American Society of Haematology and the Haemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society. Her research interests include the pathobiology of platelet disorders.

He obtained his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Indonesia. Additionally, Dr. dr. Agus is also a designated clinical pathology consultant at the Metropolitan Medical Centre Hospital, Prodia Kebayoran, Siloam Semanggi and MRCCC Hospital.

dr Ninik Sukartini, SpPK(K) is a consultant clinical pathologist at the Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo Central National Hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. She completed her basic medical and clinical pathology training at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Indonesia. Dr Ninik also currently serves as the Program Director of the University of Indonesia’s Clinical Pathology Specialist Training Program.

Lecture Abstract

This session will examine the incidence, clinical significance, and diagnostic evaluation of iron deficiency anaemia and thrombocytopaenia in paediatric patients. The use of expanded CBC parameters, reticulocyte haemoglobin (RET-He) and immature platelet fraction (IPF) will be discussed as additional tools to manage these challenging conditions. Case study examples will be reviewed to illustrate the clinical benefits of these parameters.

• Understand the role of expanded CBC parameters in the evaluation of anaemia
