Automated urine sediment analysis represents a major breakthrough in laboratory medicine, complementing manual microscopy in the detection of white blood cells, bacteria, renal tubular epithelial cells and others. With the evolution of technology and integration of flow cytometry, sediment analysis has become more accurate with wider capability, being able to detect atypical cells based on size, complexity and nucleic acid content. In contrast to cytopathological evaluation, an automated detection of atypical cells has the potential to provide a faster, more objective and reduced operator dependency on result outcome. In this webinar, Prof Kenichi Shukuya will share his experience using the Sysmex UF-Series automated urine analyser in the detection of atypical cells in the urine to screen for urinary tract tumours.
