[VOD AVAILABLE] Automated Sample Preparation in a Clinical Flow Cytometry Lab: Practical Application and Virtual Demonstration
Speaker
Kirthi Kumar, MD, PhD
Medical Director, Medical City Haematopathology and
IRL Laboratories
Dr. Kumar has won several accolades including the Arthur V. Sternbridge Teaching award in the Pathology residency program. She is currently the medical director of Haematopathology at Medical City Dallas and provides haematopathology services to a tertiary bone marrow transplant program. The lab is well-equipped with state-of-the-art flow cytometry and FISH testing and is in process of validating cytogenetics and molecular testing to cater to a busy haemapathology service. Her areas of expertise include morphologic haematopathology (bone marrows, nodal and extra-nodal tissues) and flow cytometry including MRD analysis.
Virtual Demonstration
Lew McAllan is currently Senior Director of Flow Cytometry Business Development at Sysmex Corporation, Japan. He has been involved in Flow Cytometry Product Development and Strategic Marketing for over 30 years with Beckman Coulter, Sony Biotechnology and since 2014 with Sysmex. Lew’s work focuses on the development of the Sysmex Clinical Flow Cytometry portfolio, including Reagents, a Sample Preparation System and a Clinical Flow Cytometry Analyser.
Lecture Abstract
Laboratory automation continues to evolve and significantly improve workflow processes. This presentation will highlight the benefits of an automated sample preparation system in a busy flow cytometry laboratory. Key validation steps will be outlined, case studies will be shared, and a live demonstration of the instrument will demonstrate the utility of this technology in a clinical setting.
